150 Johnson Gear Lube Capacity

What is the gear lube capacity for a 2003 150 Johnson? My dealer sold me a 1 quart kit and said it was enough, but I bought a second just to be sure. <br /><br />I filled the gearcase from the bottom screw and filled until the lube dripped from the top, which amounted to 45 oz. Is this correct?

From my book, the capacity should be 34 oz for the 150 Johnson.

Just remove the upper vent screw and see what weeps out.If grossly overfilled,it may need coaxing with a tootpick or something to get it started.That is ,if it's overfilled.Did you maybe spill some when you put it in or perhaps had some left over in the first container?
