When i ohm stator ,do i just leave ignition key off or disconnect battery cables at battery's??? No power to get up on plane. Idle's ok,start's normal plug's look good fuel good. Being doing comp check today. It's carb motor Thank's

Anytime you're working with wiring you should disconnect the battery. You have to disconnect the stator wires to do any ohms checks.

Thank's Guy's i realize about lifting wires from each switchbox. Keep you posted on this trouble shooting

Ok,Went to boat yesterday, checked compression,100plus on all 6 ,spark about half inch to all 6 . didn't get chance to ohm out statoror trigger. My question is on ohm meter theres + and neg leads . Which leads go where between blue and red ect?????

chumbucket; makes NO difference you are checking to see if the coils are open,shorted or grounded. Do you have a manual to ID the different coils that need to be checked in that stator? hope this helps .

Ben Lucky, Got Merc service manual with the ohms for each set of wires. You mean those readings. boat in Somers Point

Chum; thats what the manual is for.check your mod.,Yr., hp.it should give you the readings you are looking for.(correct polarity isn't needed when checking OHMS res..R.B.area..

Update on stator and trigger Ohm;s Checked my stator today blue-red 6200 blue/white -red/white 6700 ohm's trigger came in out 1500, 1450, 1450 ohm's. these look close to book reading's. Can't get past around 2000rpm. No miss, idle's ok comp over 100 on all six

just a few ??what yr.? is the motor new to you? how did it run before ,RPM's ?

OK, Fixed problem, Turned out to be Carb's -fuel pump. Rebuilt both everthing back to normal. Thank's for help.
