150 VRO pump

Hi all, I messed up and got a 4 wire VRO pump to replace one on my engine which turns out to be a 3 wire. My question is, can I use this pump safely by using the old three wire connector and hooking it up to the three same color wires coming off the new pump? I guess it would be easier to ask what happens if that 4th wire is left disconnected. Thanks.

naut i think all new parts are 4 wire there should be instructions and connectors in the box explaining what to do the 4th is a purple wire you must hook to the 10 pin harness if my memory serves me right. good luck if no instructions talk to a dealer maybe he will copy some for you. rember mix first tank after fixing oil system in case a air bubble or pump is not working properly it wont kill engine...

ad is correct on the instructions with the new vro<br />I just put one on and you can't buy a three wire anymore... oem anyway...<br />the instructions are pretty clear on the conversion...<br />If you don't have the instructions.. maybe I can dig mine up

The new VRO pumps are all the same, but the kit assembly numbers are different. Someone sold you the wrong kit, as kits for older motors include the extra purple wire and the connector boot and instructions.<br /><br />Tell the parts people to look up the orginal pump number for your motor, then the price book will give the superceded kit number that you need.
