1500 150 hp merc

i have an outboard. sounds fine in the yard . put itn the water and started to pull a skier she weouldnt come up out of the water . started slowing down like she was lean on fuel . i squeezed the primer bulb while in gear and no difference. checked my wires and plugs . i noticed that two of my wires had come out of the cap. also the top 5 cylinders were ok at the plug base but on the 6 one , it was really rusy looking and corroded. can anyone help me please

Sounds like its time to clean up or replace the wiring mabie throw in some new plugs. See if that fixes her up.<br />Jon

Sounds like you need to go through it before worse stuff happens. Start by getting a manual. Then replace the plug wires, clean the cap, (remember plug wires unscrew) and replace the little carbon button in the cap.<br /><br />The issues with #6 scare me. Sounds like the lower seals are failing. You need to pull the powerhead and then remove the bottom end cap and change the seals. Then hit the engine with Mercury Power Tune as directed a few times and finally do a compression test.<br /><br />For that matter also do a compression test 1st - to see what you're up against overall.<br /><br />-W
