I have a 150hp E150EXATS Evinrude with optic ignition that will only run for about 5 seconds. It was thought to have erratic timing when an analyser was hooked up to it and weak spark so the optic ignition and power pack was replaced. Now we have a nice spark. On full manual advance we can get it to run for about 5 seconds but no more. The VRO has been disconnected for years. Is there any solonoids/relays in the VRO pump that could be causing this problem? the reason is that if the fuel bowl is squeezed to the max there is a click and the motor will run for the 3 to 5 seconds. The plugs are getting heaps of fuel, the carbis have been cleaned out. Where can I go to from here??? Opps have also checked the stop circuit. Does the rectifier have any input on the ignition side of this motor? Please help.
