I have a 1989 Hurrican Deck boat with a 150 HP Johnson V-6. My controls for this boat do not seem to have any provisions for increasing idle speed without putting motor in gear. Needless to say we have a very difficult time starting and keeping the boat running until it is warmed up. Is there any way to add this feature without replacing the controls? Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

All controls have this feature. I can't begin to tell you how yours work unless you tell us what brand and type control you have.

If there are no buttons to push or no warm-up levers try pulling the control handle sideways away from the box and then pushing forward.

Captain Walker - Thanks. I monkeyed around with the throttel last night and BINGO your suggestion works. I apperciate your help. I was about ready to sell this tub.
Admrial Alcan - Your are right - "every control has the ability to fast idle"
I suppose that explains why I am just a First Mate and you guys are commissioned officers. Thanks again!! :)
