Hello All,
I put a new/rebuilt powerhead on my 150hp XR2. Replaced just about everything including cooling components ie pump, seals, thermostats etc. I took it to the launch this past week and ran the motor on the trailer with the motor submerged. I am happy to say everything check out; the motor is running good and cooling correctly
I haven't run it under load yet but plan to do that in the next week or so.
My question is the factory manual says to run the motor at a mix or 32 or 36/1 (can't remember the exact mix off the top of my head) for the first couple hours during the break-in period. The motor is a little smokey but I assume that is because I am running a little heavy on the mix. Typical operation is 50/1. Oh I should mention the oil injection is by-passed and I am mixing. After running the motor at the launch for about 10-15 minutes I pulled the plugs and they were wet. I am not sure if this means I am running rich or because of the mix ratio I am running??? I also may need to actually run the motor on the lake and put some load and rpms into it then check the plugs again. Just wanted to get some input on this. Thanks all.
