Hello, I am new to this site and I have recently obtained a 1970s 15ft bow rider galaxie tri hull and the capacity sticker is nowhere to be found. So i have no idea how many people i can safely carry on board or max engine size. if anyone knows please let me know.

Thanks

don't know about your Galaxie but I have a Sea Sprite 15' tri-hull, it's max hp is 85,people load is 700 lbs and max weight is 1060 lbs.I would think your's should be somewhere in that ballpark.

My guess would be 4 people but some are up to 6.

I looked at a LOT of 15' range boats of various makes and modles. We were looking for 5 people capacity. Our 15' is rated at 5, but it is foam filled to the top of the gunnels with 60 cubic feet of foam.

Re: 15ft tri hull capacity?

My 15' Tri-hull is rated the following:

Max HP: 70
Max People: 5
Max weight: 750lbs
Total weight (persons, motor, gear): 1100

But every boat is different... It really depends a lot on the length/beam equation, besides flotation, etc... I have seen some with really low HP ratings, and like above, the one with 85 is on the high end for a 15' boat...

Hope that helps!

The old "Rule Of Thumb"
Lenght times width divided by 150. Or use 165 for todays larger american belt lines. this will give you a good est of the capacity.

I have a 1975 Trihaul and I have the coast guard plate on back. It says max 90HP so not sure what the weight limit would be.

Foam doesn't increase capacity, it technically decreases it. Foam is extra weight under normal circumstances, it only becomes useful after you sink...

Anyway, i've had 2 different 15'5" class tri hulls, one was 5 people/85 horse, the other was 6 people, 115 hp. One thing about 15'5" class boats is that they tend to stretch that <16 foot class quite a bit. (most states have different regulations and fees for anything 16 feet and longer by title) Anyway, my largest 15.5 boat was over 17 from bow to stern. None of my under 16 foot boats were actually under 16 feet.
