I just bought a beautiful 1995 15hp 2s troke merc,it has 120lbs even compression on both cylinders but i was looking at the powerhead and saw spider like cracks,i don't know if it's anything serious so i need some major help here.I asked my 2 local marina's about this and they said it doesn't seem like anything to worry about.I don't know if it's just paint chipping cracks or if it's the start of something serious but my 2 local marina's told me that would be hard for it to crack there. They said it's nothing but i put pics up to get some info on here.I bought it off ebay so it was never told to me but i have never seen anything like that before,i'm hoping i can get some good news here.

Any help would be great,ty.

Likely casting marks or paint cracking from poor preparation work.

Ok so i took as close and detailed pics as possible, also i looked inside the power head were the bottom plug goes,i could see on the other side of the power head were my issue is and i see no cracks going all the way through, the wall was smooth on the inside of it.I didn't realize how thick that powe rhead is and is more then likely what you were saying, that looks like the original power head so it is more then likely cast marks but like i said i took really good detailed close up pics and the marks go down even further which tells me it just may be casting marks,it has 120lbs of dead even compression on both cylinders.I compression checked it 3 times and all 3 times they were a dead even 120.

Sorry Boater, unfortunately the forum has been undergoing some major changes and there are many problems associated with the changes including posting photos. If you have an account with photo bucket, it seems to help if you load your photos in there and post a link to them here.

Sorry for the inconvenience this forum is causing you, hope you get your new boat up and running soon without many issues, Good luck.:) P.S, I'm going to delete your other duplicate threads for you as they shouldn't be needed.

It's ok, we know it's happening to most everyone. Wish we could tell everyone when it will be fixed, but like boats, it's hard to say when. lol.:)
