How long ago did chrysler start making 15hp engines? Looking through the parts section of this forum I don't see a lot of stuff for engines smaller then 45hp, is this because they are not available? Hoe difficult are chryslers to work on compared to johnson?

I'm guessing it is a 78. Parts for chryslers seems had to find compared to johnson/evinrude, also seem a little pricey comparatively.

Mercruiser site goes back to 1976 but a bunch of the parts are no longer available. Parts are becoming more scarce every year. Motors are easy to work on if you can get parts. Ignition parts are the worst. next would be gears for the lower unit.

Chrysler probably made about a trillion 15 hp engines. Clymers says they started in 71. Ignition parts are still available and on magneto ignition engines you can use parts from the 9.9 (which they also made a couple of billion). The magneto assembly was the same for the 9.9, 12. 12.9, and 15. Lower unit was the same also. Indeed, the first Force 9.9 was a de-rated Chrysler 15. Look for parts on the old engine sites, or franz marine. Look for used ones at garage sales and on auction sites. Many of these engines are stored in garages and not used, and are just forgotten and never come up for sale.
