1974 was running perfect, start rite up and all of a sudden it will not hit a lick. Even with starting fluid nothing. I am getting a spark to the plugs, it may be a little weak spark. but shouldn't it do something with starter fluid. what should I try?? any ideas appreciated because I am lost thanks guys

Lose the starting fluid. There is no lubrication in it and it washes down the cylinder walls.

1. Do you have compression on both cylinders?
2. Put some pre-mixed fuel in a spray bottle and spray in carb throat. Any fire?

Try a new set of spark plugs. Those things were notorious for fouling plugs. Even the factory couldn't fix them.

Unlike most other OMCs that liked Champion J6Js, those low tension 9.9 & 15 through '76 liked NGK B7HS.

Weird when things go south with old and some new two strokes that the culprit is the plugs.
