Hi

I have a 15hp 1990? gamefisher that seemed to overheat. My son took a hydrofoil off and the jon boat was riding with the bow high out of the water. I pulled the impeller and it looked ok, I tried to replace but a week to get the part. I'm on vacation at a lake with the family and would LOVE to get this running.

I put it back together and it started ok and water came out of the tell tale in a tank, put it back in the water and it ran ok (water still coming out of the tell tale) with me in the bow and more level and it ran good for 15 minutes.

I put my young son in the front and the bow lifted out again and it seemed to overheat and shut off.

I got another hydrofoil, replaced old spark plugs, made sure the lower unit had oil but now it won't start up. It's like the kill switch is on and won't let it start.

Is there a switch for overheating??

Thanks for any help!

Model number would help.If it did over heat and stop. You may have ruined the motor at worst Probably blew the head gasket at least. Pull the plugs and
look for evidence of water infiltration.water or rust.Withn the plugs out put your thumb over a plug hole and have someone crank the motor.Should blow past your thumb.check both cylinders.
A 15 should push a Jon at speeds close to scary!Should get up on the water and scoot!I think it was running on one cylinder.
Did the old plugs look each the same brownish to black not wet ?
