 Hi again guys, I'm back. Now I've got an 89 Merc, 15hp, tiller, manual start, with a broken kill switch. One kill switch lead goes to a mounting screw for the ign module (gnd) and the other lead splits into two pig tails, male/female plugged into itself. My guess is someone disconnected it and plugged it into itself but once again my Seloc manual doesn't have a wiring diagram. I don't know why, for what they charge for those manuals, they can't put a wiring schematic in it. I figure it must plug into one of the three ignition plug leads on the side of the ign box but I don't know where. There is also a two wire lead going into the tiller throttle/FNR handle and I ASSUME this is a safety starter feature of some kind. So, at 56, I once again find myself seeking advice from those that are more informed than me.

I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, Happy holiday, and thanks.

Re: 15HP Merc kill switch wiring

Nobody hit this so this will at least bump it up and keep it in view.

I have the larger hp Merc and I have a yellow/black wire coming from the trigger module which is used for killing the ignition. This wire is grounded in my control box when turning the switch to OFF and what it does is grounds the trigger in the pulse module to stop the pulses from being applied to the plugs.

Merc has a habit of using similar codes on different engines for the same function.

Best I can do.

Many thanks to you both for the info. That's the kind of diagram I expected but didn't get in my Seloc manual. Thanks to you, I have it now. Thanks for your help.

That's the kind of diagram I expected but didn't get in my Seloc manual.

That is why it's best to get the OEM manual right to start with instead of wasting your money for an aftermarket manual, then needing the OEM anyway. That is just one example on your engine.
