I am deciding on a 15hp 4stroke for my 14ft boat.I have a question i hope someone can answer.I have looked up every 15hp motors specs and i mean like honda,merc/tohatsu the same, yamaha, and suzuki. All the 15hp motors had the exact wot rpms at 5000 to 6000rpms and according to the brochures i read on all of them the rev limiter was set at 6250rpms which is all good.

My question is when i looked at the suzuki's wot range it was odd at 5400 to 6000rpms and the rev limiter was at 6500rpms.Why would it be so different? Also if it is rated 15hp at 5400rpm what is this motor capable of when u can go another 1000rpm without going over the rev limiter,16,17,18hp who knows were it stops. Is there any special reason for this?I would think the motor can go way beyond expectation,is this correct?

I'm hoping there is people out here with the knowledge to help me on this because if i had to guess this motor is a little powerhouse that can go beyond what we think.Know when u get into the 20hp range for some of the motors i looked at the rpm range was 5400 to 6100 but no 15hp motors had the specs the suzuki did and i find it a little odd but hopefully a good thing.

Well hope someone can shed some light on this subject, thanks for any replies.
