hey i just found out i have the option to buy an older 1960 larson with a 90 hp electric shift motor for $75 dont kow if the motor runs. guy says the boat floats and motor ran 8 yrs ago. then it was parked and left alone for 8 yrs un coversd to the elements.

Floor seemed sound and transome has 2 little soft spots. Could i drill small holes in it and inject epoxy??

Is it worth $75??

You can part out the engine for more than $75.00. Probably a lot more.

Unless you have a passion for that year boat, forget it, unless you're willing to do some work to part it out.

Pay attention to the hardware, There are a lot of old boat fanatics that will pay you for the old (original) hardware (Cleats, lights, etc.) but it has to be "original".

For a "family" boat-NO. Buy something simpler and go from there.

As an investment to make money on, you might have something-in parts.

Trailer? Well? Old trailers are always worth $75.00-if useful.

If that is the case, don't do it. Boating is very expensive. We have a small boat (50 hp motor) that doesnt use alot of gas, but our typical outing costs us $50-$75.

If you're looking for a boat to actually use and get you out on the water cheap, that's probably not the one to do it. That motor could be a money pit.
