Hey guys. I recently bought a 1984 Mercury 115hp 6 cylinder that has been 100% re-done from mercrestore located around Milwaukee WI. ( he also sells on e-bay)
I added a stereo and a dual battery setup to the boat, and asked about having a higher output stator installed in the motor when it was being built. He installed a 16 amp stator. the number is the same as the mercury number (dont know it off hand) but has a -16 at the end. I believe the stock stator is 9amp.
nothing else has been changed, is this ok to run?? it has only been run in the driveway on Ears and tach reads good, and voltage output is about 13.5-13.9 there is no voltage regulator on the motor, I found somwhere that the stator has an internal regulator?
I am worried about ruining the CDI boxes, or any other component of the electrical system.
Let me know what you think, any past experience w/ this would be great! sooner the better as I would love to put it in the water this weekend, if it's possoble.... THANK YOU!
