Here is a boat for sale locally that I was wondering if the pros that know anything about aluminum hulls think this is a good deal. I don't remember if trailer comes with it but thinking if so then even without a motor its still a heck of a deal. Chime and and let me know what you guys think?

Yea correction no motor or trailer unless pay more but if I paid $700 or say close to it would it be worth the restore and does it picture quality look worth it? Can't tell if deck was repainted or what but certainly a black color. Waiting on owner to respond.

Restore? no.

Fix up to use, sure. Its gonna take a little work and a few bucks, but should make a decent boat.

Make sure the wood in the transom is solid.

Price is right. Even at 700. But offer him $525 and work from there.

Looks like the wooden floor was removed.

It should be rated to handle 50-90 hp. depending on the model.

Go for it.

Restore? no.

Not sure why you say restore, no. With that being said it will be a restore technically right? Would have to repower it, replace floor, possible transom, and until I hear from original owner I will go on limp and say all new wiring, etc......

I figured either way if I take my time with it, will be a good project boat. Seem star craft aluminum hulls are a popular choice for a restore rather than fiberglass anyhow. Figured get on the band wagon and see what the hype was lol.

I'll look at a possible repower now, and I can always sell off my current boat to fix this up. Only if the (boss) will approve. Biggest thing is I figured having aluminum if well taken care of will out last a fiber boat. Correct me if I'm wrong. This will be a out drive setup which I may like better later down the road.

Do you honestly think even $300 is too cheap even if bare hull? Just figured maybe something wrong with it but with nothing on it and if no leaks then I suppose can't go wrong.

If he contacts me I will go for that price, oh and you say since I live in California then go for it?

That is a good price even if you can't talk him down and get the trailer, you won't find another on for $400, that is a deal too.

If I was looking for a boat I would very likely jump on this one, make sure you ask the guy what it need then plan on a bit more than that.

I was kind of thinking the same thing, even at $700 wouldn't be all too bad of a deal. The major would be having to replace everything completely.

As long as it may still have steering componets and throttle cables, instrument wiring, etc, that will be a good start. Repower, new deck, upholstry I expect that. I prefer though that it is stripped on deck like it is which just means less I have to do to get prepared to put together. As long as no leaks, I can test that we good. I will let you guys know unless someone jacks my buy then hopefully I will hear from him by morning. It is 2:55am here and I work the night shift, hope by mid afternoon I will recieve a answer and go check it out.

That looks like truck bed liner on the inside of the boat, you'll have fun removing that junk. If that is bed liner it probably means the boat leaks and owner doesn't know how to fix it. I would certainly dicker the price.

Good eye on that, will certainly inquire and let original owner entertain me with his explanation.

Yah, left coast pricing is a bit more so $700 for the bare hull and trailer isn't too bad.

Maybe show up with $500 in one pocket and another $100 in the other pocket to see what happens??;)

She is a blank slate (pretty much) and can be re built any number of ways:cool:

That black hull may be bedliner (not good) or maybe Coat It (good)?? I think Coat It is black isn't it guys:confused:

When I think restore, I think restore like a '70s muscle car, spending hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to make it original, so no, I would not "restore it."

I would indeed fix and repair, and customize for use.

And yes indeed, prices are high anywhere west of the continental divide, so it seems a good deal to me, if... it is sound.

Floor will cost you at least $250, $650+ if done right.
Seats are $100-$300 a piece.
Plus a motor, wiring, lights.

Well some bad news and depending on how you look at it maybe it is good news and for the greater good.

Owner contacted me, he said he used some Rubber like sealent for the deck, only bought with a commercial license. He also stated it was like $200 a gallon so I have no idea what that is. I did not go look at the boat because he also sold trailer. Unfortunate I do not have a spare trailer or a place to store my other boat to use my trailer so I have to cut my losses. No wiring and no steering componets so this is a completly bare hull.

I was a little bummed but I think it is for the best. If anyone wants to steal my buy go ahead if your local. The buyer of the trailer is coming tonight to get it, if only I could have convinced the boss, I may have been able to work out a deal such as buy boat now, and take his trailer back to him to sell off.

Back to that rubber stuff though no idea what that is and maybe not even worth trying to get because it end up being a disaster to remove.
