Going to pick up a new project this weekend.
Will post pics after I get her, but was wondering if anyone had an idea on what hull it might be?
Guy says it's a 16', but I can't think of a 16 I.O.?

It was posted on C-list awhile back & the day I decided to go for it the ad dissapeared.
It came back this week, $200 cheaper!
It's a stripped hull on a trailer.
I've only seen pics, but looks like maybe an SS or offshore......... open bow with full rail.
Guess I'll find out tomorrow.

BTW, the transom will get patched & built up for an OB. Just happen to have gotten a deal on a 70HP rude!

There are alot of both out there.
Would say you have 70/30 chance of it being an outboard.

Then agian im only 60m from the starcraft plant so in your neck of the woods could be differnt.

It was definitely an I.O., & guess I should have mentioned (though it should go without saying) aluminum.
It will be wearing an outboard when I finish with it, & probably a center console.

Oh man, 16 foot IO's are pretty cool in my book!

Ah well...

Hey, heads up - you'll need to add structure to that transom as you are totally changing up the design of the boat (knee braces, splashwell).

Cheers!

Re: 16' i.o.?

Thanks Jas.
Running a sheetmetal shop makes it easy to do the structural work, since I can mock up ideas & see them.
It will sport a new transom & braces, undecided on the splashwell yet. I may leave the full height transom & use a hydraulic jackplate that I have as a motor bracket.

This will be a more functional build than pretty, because this will be a duck hunting & bay fishing boat.
My little 14' Holiday has served me well, & will be going to a young man that has hunted with me the past couple seasons......... now he and his family can get started with the Starcraft bug!

Super cool you have a metal shop at your disposal!

Yah, for a duck boat no splashwell and an OB on the back would be great!

I think functional is sexy. I'd rather have a 32 fenderless Ford than a BMW. The jack plate sounds like a great idea to me. Full transom with some bracing and no splashwell, heck yea. I think it will work as long as there is enough bracing.

Re: 16' i.o.?

Be careful, a couple of the 16' I/O's I've seen have had some pretty odd and totally obsolete powerplants. If it's not a Mercruiser, I wouldn't mess with it.
