165 Chevy WOT RPM?

[Always Broke]

I am curently restoring a 21' Starcraft Chiefton with a in line 250 CI 165 HP Chevy engine. Can anyone tell me the WOT RPM recomendations for this motor? It has yet to see the water but I'm getting there and would like to have the proper propeller on it. Thanks.

I'm guessing but 4400 would be in the ball park.

I'd say that was screaming for that old push rod honker.....but not overdone.

from my mercrusier book c-90-68648 vol 2,<br /><br />max rpm at wot 3900-4300<br /><br />my 16' trihull is runnin an alum. 17. i'm getting about 3900-4300 depending how i trim it. and she is "screaming" at 43...

my 17P prop would turn that engine at 4700rpm at WOT. a little too high for my liking, but what a hole shot!!! 4500 or less is more my liking. <br />but since no two boats are alike lol, you'll have to play around with some different pitches until you find the right one.<br /><br />Great engine though. bulletproof.<br /><br />Stephen
