17' runabout prop selection...

Motor is on a 17' early 80's runabout. It is a strakeless soft chine inland lake hull not a deep-V. The Tohatsu 50 is a long shaft and the cav plate is just slightly above the bottom of the transom. The boat uses an in-hull 25 gallon fuel tank. The intended use of the boat is for general pleasure (fishing, cruising, and occasional water sports). Typical load would be 2 small adults (under 130lbs) and two kids. It currently needs a prop and I have heard there are some real world runability gains by using something better than the oem offering. Can anyone shed some light on a prop size and type/brand to narrow the experimenting phase?

TIA

What inprovements do yopu have in mind?
While there are some prop calculators that can predict props well
A really good way is to work with the present wot rpm and speed
with the present prop. You can tell how the present setup is working
and figure if a change is necessary what might be accomplished.
