The only thing I fined is standard timing for 91 octane fuel, and retard 4 degrees from standard for 88 octane fuel.

Back then, OMC sent out large charts to dealers showing the new timing specs and which engines needed thicker head gaskets to use the new types of gasolines that came on the market. Timing on the engines was brought down to 28 degrees, if they were originally 32 to 36 degrees.

Thinks Seahorse helped my memory. SB 2155 engine modifications for 86 aki octane lead free fuel. Dated OCT 1986. Bulletin says no change for 1985 175 hp.Orignal timimg 34 degrees. Then came SB2159R1 dated OCT 1986 that says to retard timing 4 degrees for a minimum of 88 aki octane lead free fuel, which brings the timing back to 30 degrees.

edited 7:09 EST
