Seems the outboard idles a bit lean. If I drive the boat onto the trailer and just let it idle in gear for about 1 minute it will sneeze and die. If I idle in gear into a current or wind it will sneeze after a few minutes. As long as I just nudge the throttle a very small amount all is well.
I have cleaned the carbs, checked the bleed lines, made sure the float level is correct. Aslo installed new glass reeds.
Link and sink timming and the rest. Been threw it all several times.
Dont get me wrong the thing runs awsome in every other way.

Should I look at the idle jet size? Can they even be changed? Are they available?
Are they the same size on all 3 carbs?

Thanks for any of your smarts!

Re: 175 black max

My service manual for my 90 triple says idle should be set, with the idle stop screw on the throttle linkage in the engine, for 675 +/- 25 rpm in the water in F gear....hence under load. That could be your problem if you are idling too slow. The sneeze IS a fuel deficient symptom and if you have your idle set up properly you may want to open your low speed jets a tad at a time until it quits doing that. Since idle speed is set by timing advance/retard, you probably will have to tweak the stop screw every time you do a tweak on the carbs low speed needle. The big guns on here open the low speed jets until the boat takes throttle in the hole shot without balking.
