I have a 175 1996 evinrude intruder. Recently when I first start it in the morning and let it idle to warm up, I wait to here the rpms go from faster to slower (I think the thermostat opens) after 3-4 minutes. Then I hear an alarm go of beeeeep.......beeeeep......beeeeeep. so I shut off the motor and the alarm stops....I wait a minute start the motor, and there is no alarm for the rest of the day after I start and stop and start and stop. Everything seems fine with the motor, but does anyone have an idea of what that alarm is, and why it goes off? I don't speak Beep beep beep. Please help with a translation if you can.

Thanks in advance

Re: 175 evinrude alarm sound at idle

The translation is OK Brent. An urgent tone (as you described...1/2 sec on 1/2 off) indicates no or restricted oil flow to the OMS pump. Next time you start the engine cold, try squeezing the oil primer bulb first. See if this cures the tone at cold start up. And it would be a good idea to run oil in the fuel until you are SURE the pump is pumping oil. Mark some hash lines on the oil reservoir for reference to oil usage.
