175 evinrude timing

can someone please explain how to adgust timing with screwdriver on my 1998 evinrude carbed? I asked to have an appointment with a local dealer and he said i can just adjust with screw driver from timing screw? i read manuel and cant seem to find this info thank you

A '98 175 carbed motor is a 60 degree design that does not have a timing screw like other motors do. On the stb. side top of the block, there is a lever (spark advance) that has 2 adjustment brackets that are ratcheted and held in place by a Pozi-drive screw (looks like a Phillips, but it is not). You need a special ignition analyzer to set the timing or run the engine and use a timing lite. One "ratchet lever is for idle speed and the other for high speed timing.
