175 fast strike vibration while on plane

I have a 1994 Fast Strike and while on plane i have a vibration that comes and goes. When it first started it was a slight vibration but it keeps getting worse. It doesnt vibrate all the time its on and off. I took it to a shop and told them i thought it might be the lower unit so they took a look at it and said it was fine but it still does it. The motor sounds great has good power so i dont know if its internal or something to do with the lower unit. I have had the boat for three years and the vibration started about four months ago and has gotten progressively worse. If anyone could help me out that would be great

you sure its the motor....and not something within the hull? does it happen a specific rpm range, or happen at random rpms?

have you hit the prop on anything???

I use to run aluminum props , then I got a hold of a nice SS prop and it really made my boat move.. but i back up into a rock on day and BENT the Prop shaft something fierce....and i want into the throttle that much at all, it was reverse for petes sake.

cost me a bundle, i could turn the propeller and watching it go up and down......replced the LU right away before I ruined anything else in there.


so spin you prop in nuetral and see if it wobbles at all

It does it the worst from 3500 to 5000 It feels Like there is a bearing or something inside thats vibrating it does it for different length of times sometimes worse than others but it isn't a constant vibration sometimes it runs smooth as glass then all of a sudden you can feel it then it will go away and come back a little later
