I own a 2000 175 Ficht model # 175FPLSS serial # G04744950. #4 cylinder blew due to pre-ignition/detonation according to the mech. Motor was put into service in 2002 and has 130 hrs on it. No alarms have ever went off but the onboard computer shows a CODE 22. Extended warranty does not cover pre-ignition or detonation so I had to purchase a new power head. Any suggestions on what to check so I don't have this same problem again? Anyone know if this motor has updates and what they were?

Re: 175 Ficht updates

Code 22 is for water temperature switch activation(overheat). It should have set the temp warning light and put it in the S.L.O.W. mode. Your computer,on the motor, should show at what hour it set that code. Need to find out what caused the code and the damage to the powerhead, and why the System Check gauge overheat did not come on. Once you replace the powerhead, you need to get the timing verified by using the proper software. You could check with Bombardier to see if all updates(if needed) were installed. Have your serial number handy.

PAPASMURF,<br /><br />Does S.L.O.W. mode mean when the motor seems to be missing or jerking? The shop is replacing the tach and water pump when they install new power head. Would over heat cause detonation? Will the diagnostic software be able to check the injectors?
