I have an 07 175. Have a 19 pitch prop on it. I have a hydrofoil from a previous boat with a smaller engine. It worked great on the lesser HP engine. I don't have any complaints about the plaining or speed of my new 175 now. I don't know what kind of hydrofoil it is, but... it's the typical black plastic, appr. 14 or 16" across back when installed.

Could anyone who has a hydrofoil on their 175 please chime in!!!

-Does it make it plane a lot quicker?
-What does it do to top speed?
-What does it do to the wake?

I have a wakeboard tower installed and the boat is used primarliy for that. I don't need more top speed, if it is increases it, great. I don't want it to flatten out my wake though. Any and all thoughts will be appreciated. Tnx!

I own the same set-up as you except 2005 . .. I installed a hydro-foil on my 175 and hated it ! Didnt feel very stable to me at high speeds. I took it off. never to install again. Try if you like, since you already have one... My vote would be No

-Does it make it plane a lot quicker? yes, wouldnt say alot but quicker

-What does it do to top speed? Loose about 200 rpm / 2mph

-What does it do to the wake? No real change

Go with the smart tabs, don't drill holes in your outdrive.

I took my hydrofoil off my 19' Cuddy 125 O/B. A little slower to plane but steers better, more smooth control. It will stay off. Now to repair the holes in the LU, fill with some epoxy or something and sand/paint.
