Warning sounds after running it beyond an idle. Question: Is there water passages only through the heads or is there water passages throughout the Block? The thermostats have been changed and the Impeller was done. My next guess it that I have a blockage in the Heads. Is this an intellegent deduction? What else would I look for when I get this over heat problem?

PS the Head on one side is getting hotter then the other one.

See related post "30hp Yamaha overheating buzzer ???" by Muskiekid.
1. Verify if engine overheats.
2. Correct heating problems
Impeller
Thermostat
Head gasket
coolant passages
check for pieces of previous broken impeller
back flush from thremostat
3. Check sensor and wiring

Also I'm not familiar with your particular engine, are you sure its an overheat buzzer and not an oil injection or other alarm. Verify this also.

Re: 175 V6 Evinrude Warning buzzer sound

sounds like I'm approaching it correctly.
With the Heads off, I guess I can flush water backwards through the passages.(?)
I'm hoping to find all salt in the Head. The guy who owns this boat never Flushes this engine. As much as I try to impress upon him the importance.
This year motor doesn't have oil injection so I'm assuming the buzzer is for OverHeat only.

Thanks

The year of the motor or model number would help. However if its a crossflow replace the water deflectors while you have the heads off.

Good luck!

Re: 175 V6 Evinrude Warning buzzer sound

You can look for a post of mine a couple of months ago on a Suzuki. I removed the head and found seriously clogged head cooling passages. However, this was a known problem associated with an older style head gasket. Also found some blockage in the exhaust housing passages. Found 2 pieces of old impeller in the block but I don't think they were hurting anything where they were located. Relatively new thermostat stuck closed first time I test drove it and had to be replaced. Also eventually had to replace the sensor to get it to shut up.

Also check and see if your engine has a pressure relief valve that may be stuck open.

Also some engines have grommet trouble at the top of the water pump tube where it joins the powerhead. The grommets get crimped on re-installation and block the tube.

Thanks all

I printed this out and will take a look if I get 'volunteered' to work on the engine.
