Re: 17pitch vs 19 pitch

If both those props blow out when you start to plane you might have the motor mounted to high on your transom. The cavitation plate should be even with the bottom of the hull or up to an inch higher. Any higher and you will have issues with blow out like you described.

The other problem might be the trim setting on the motor. If you have power trim then trim the motor all the way in (towards the boat) before you take off and start trimming out after the boat is on a plane. Trim the motor out until it just starts to ventilate then back in until it stops.

If you have manual trim then try setting the trim in one notch at a time and test.

If I read correctly, neither prop performs as desired. Check motor height and if you have proper pitch starting points.

Good luck!
