Does it matter? Is my boat running its best without ever seeing a rooster tail? Using aluminum 14”x19p prop. I tried a 14.25”x23 stainless and it planed really slow by myself but hauled the mail still no roaster tail 🤷‍♂️

Some props throw one more than others. I know a laser 2 is famous for it on light hulls. Same boat with a ballistic….nothing.

So is the laser 2 good model. These prop waters are murky for me. Real rabbit hole lol

Your best bet is to find a prop specialist in your area so he can see your setup. Very difficult to make any recomendations on here with so little information. A prop that is good on one boat may not be so good on another. Props need to be tunedvto your boat and motor as well as what you expect your boat to do.

You can get a Rooster Tail by over trimming, but you can starve the engine of Cooling Water. Shortly after these were taken, the Water Jacket Cover started leaking water around the Spark Plugs, Warpage was the reason

Most of the fellas around here that have bass boats say optimum tail is top of good on the outboard. They all have newer boats with 250s and 300s so that’s apples n oranges compared to my old nitro but concept should still be the same. I need try some other props I guess.

When the engine is mounted Higher on the Transom, or is on a Jack Plate, and the Prop is not fully submerged, the blades will throw water up and create a Rooster Tail, even when not over trimmed, but odds are they are going quite a bit faster than what you can attain

Could be using Rooster tails to compensate for other Shortcomings
