Would a 35hp bigtwin be sufficient power for this boat? Normally I'd have two adults and some tackle but occassionally four adults and their camping gear.

A 35 will move the boat but not fast enough to play. A 60 would be a better choice.

If you get a 35hp you will wish you had gone bigger first trip out.

I do like to play :)

But I'm wondering if the 35 could plane the boat, and how fast it might go w/ the right prop.

If that's a yes, and 15 mph, then I'll probably buy the boat and get by w/ the 35 until I can find a good deal on 50+

I just sold my 16'2" Blue Fin and that boat was rated for a 90! Looks just like your layout, runabout that would seat six...

generally ur looking for 70% of the max hp rating to be satisfactory. if u had 14ft then that would be great(35hp) nice boat but 50+ might get cha 25+mph?

if you like to play, 70 hp. i had one with a 90Hp, ran nearly 50 mph. 70 would be perfect for fishing or playing.

I would consider a 50 the minimum. But you could probably sell the 35 and get a 50 without getting hurt too bad.
