You can look through my site, it sort of gives a timeline of my work. It was spread out over several months, but in reality it probably took me about three weeks worth of average work days to deconstruct/reconstruct. That is just for the structure, it doesn't count all the other work done, like rewiring, mounting and rigging motor, sewing up vinal, all that. My problem was I was fighting temps and I had to work, so I had to do it in couple hour spurts hear and there with all weeked fests. Good luck and post pics if you can...

JasonJ has a pretty good estiment on the time i've only worked a week getting mine torn down to bare hull, and i'll guess two weeks putting it all back together the way i want it, it's not as bad as you might think, once you get into it it just starts falling into place. Take a look at jason's site you will learn a lot. Boat Rebuild

I dunno. How big a chainsaw do you have? :D

Seriously, every boat is different but they all have two things in common. They are a lot of work and when you're done you have a quality boat with a real sense of pride.

Go thru the boat project section and look at as many pictures, descriptions and techniques as you can. Then stand back and use your new found general knowledge to apply to your boat. Posted pictures are the best way to get help and opinions.

Just be extra careful not to cut thru your hull. I'm in the process of removing some foam thru an exploratory incision I made in my floor. That has gained me a lot of understanding of my boat structure and the degree of problem underneath.

My boat was very well crafted. They just forgot that it was going to be used in water. The things I will do as I reconstruct it will take that into account.

I will give this specific advice. If your flooring is joined to the hull with fiberglass and if the floor is ok out a few inches from the hull, that is where I would cut it. You can follow my project (TTB). As I progress I am posting pictures and descriptions.

I hope to be done by July 4th. That is about the beginning of our summer.

Good luck!

Just cut a hole in the floor I used a skill saw with the blade out just a little over 1/2" stay away from the side then try to pull it up so you can see how close the wood floor gets to the outside of the boat, don't cut to deep if you get into the hull then you have a problem. after that you will see where to cut get as close to the side of the boat as possible. be careful at any spots where the hull gets close to the floor. good luck you'll fine out it's not as bad as everyone thinks. :D

Maximerc when I restored my 72 Crysler 241 Courier (18ft tri hull) I started in August and finished in December, I worked on it just about every weekend, the floor ond the stinger were done in the first month, it took me longer because I wanted to make sure it was done right, and for the last time.

What takes the longest was detail, fabricating side boards, making the interior look good, placement of rod holders have 11, hanging the motor which sat for 17 years so I spent a couple of weekenda on it, replacing cables, installing stering, so it all depends on the extent of what you got ahead of you.

Some day I need to post some pics of it.

I pace it in days and it can be done faster, but this is realistic for me. If you are lucky, the boat is really rotten and the jobs goes faster. Get plenty of prybars, tire irons, etc to do the demolition.

Starting with wood removal...
2 days to pull the floor and interior out
1 day to pull the transom out (if stuck to the hull skin)
1 day to remove stringers
1 day to grind (7" 4000 rpm grinder and 24 grit)
1 day to measure for stringers and floors
2 days to cut and fit stingers
1 day to cut and fit transom
1 day to glass stringers
2 days to cut and fit floor (predrilled)
2 days to glass floor and transom
