Hello, newbe here and learned a lot already from you all.
Not being familier wth thes motors,I gought a 62 18 horse from a dealer "yard sale" for $25.00. It runs but I don't see it pee. Question is,does this motor pee out the exhaust? I can find no place else for the water to exit.
#,s on it are f15036m 05156. It also has electric start and no apparent kill button.

As an aside, I also got a 1963 10 horse at the same place for $35.00 that started on the second pull!!
Thanks for any replies, Skunked54

Welcome to iboats!

You need to go to church and the local police to confess your crimes of stealing those motors. :p

Since you stole them so cheap I will tell you they are both great motors. I would get a repair manual that covers them.

I have an 18 but it is much much much newer (1967 ;) and mine does have a telltale hole. I would say someone will know for sure and may pipe in. Busy weekend. I would look inside the cowling and it is probably a small rubber hose that exits just off the side of center.

That engine did not have a tell-tail. Somebody must have added one to your 67. On both the 62, and 67 There is a exhaust relief hole half way up the exhaust housing where the water is discharged

look part way down the back of the motor .there should be a hole that when the motor is running the exhaust and water should come out of.get a manual and a new impeller and also check out the section in this forum on waking a old outboard.enjoy !

these motors must be tested in a barrel, the water needs to come up 1/2 way on the leg. on the back of the leg, is the exhaust relief port, you should be getting droplets and mist out of the port. these are great motors, THIEF!!! you will get an education when you read these items. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=299680

best motor ever; it was my first (1964 Fastwin 18). No pee hole and what comes out the back is just a dribble and spray so don't expect much. If you don't know about them, learn about the shear pin and carry spares.
