1802 Trophy-trailer question

New to forum- learning a lot from all your information and suggestions!
When first trailering the boat we experienced some rhythmic bouncing of the truck( f150) over 40 mph. It was inconsistent-at first we thought it was the road-determined that wasn't it. Slowed down- seemed to go away.
Trying to problem solve the issue-we have been reading about tongue weight-not sure how to determine it. Trailer is a "Karavan". Also we are learning about surge brakes too- since this trailer has them.
Will be checking wheel bearing next and looking at the shocks on the truck- does that sound right?

tongue weight is 10 to 15% of your total trailer weight loaded at the ball. I would check your trailer tires for lumps first.Keep an eye on your trailer lighs. they don't last long. Mine went the 2nd tlme it was in water. (saltwater) You will love the boat.Most fun you can have and not go to jail. Ron

Well we went to check bearings...found the brakes were stuck on! After the drum was pulled- we noticed inside solid rust! Both sides same situation. We are getting a whole new drum, brakes, back plate...the whole 9 yards.
This puppy has been in a lot of salt water! We sure didn't realize the extent when we bought it. The one good thing-it will be like a new trailer now.
We are so thankful we didn't run into issues trailering home (60 plus miles!)
And the tires are being looked at too!
We are hoping this is the reason we bounced so much at times. If not...dang- sure not having fun yet!
