Hello everyone. I have a small leak from my prop seal and water is getting into the lower end of my motor. Correct me if im wrong but I believe the gasket kit i need is (18-2684). I am new to outboard repair but I am good with my hands and following directions. Can anyone give me detailed steps on how to remove the lower end of my motor to replace the seals. Thanks for your time.

Re: 18hp fastwin lower end help

The year or model will help. But most fastwins are the same. There's an oval cover halfway down the leg. remove this cover. Inside are s screws or bolts that hold the shift linkage together. Loosen and remove the lower one completely. Now you remove the 4 smaller and 1 larger nuts where the LU joins the leg and it should drop out. If not wiggle it and pull down gently. reverse to replace.
