Going to need more info on the motor. Neptune, a division of Muncie Gearworks of Muncie Indiana, didn't start making outboards until about 1930. Got any photos? Model number?

A little more research on my part shows that the Neptune name was also used on an unrelated motor in the 19-teens built by Caille and sold as entry level motors... Again, pics would be helpful...

I will get some pics of it tomorrow as well as the model number and such. I am just going off of what my granfather told me. his father purchased the motor way back when.

If its a little tiny motor about 17lbs it could be the Mighty mite I believe was built into the 1980s
and appeared to be from the 1930s.Looking forward to pics.

Well, if it is infact a 1917 Caille built motor, then it will have some decent value to it, but any other version of Neptune would be about the same as any other comparable outboard in your local market, which is anywhere from $50 ----$300+ Running of course will put your value at the upper end of that. Non-running would put you about $50 - $100

Well I was mistaken. My grandfather told my 1917 but its a 53 A 1.7. Points cleaned and plug in it and it runs. Has a leak in the fuel tank. but runs strong.

Sounds like one of the early Mighty Mites. Those were nice running little motors. Still one of the most common Neptune motors built. They built them things for many years and kept the same design. If you need parts for it or want an idea of it's valuability, I would surf Ebay. I'm betting there are plenty of parts available on there.

Model AA1-A is the Mighty Mite 56-59. No motors produced 52-53.
Same basic motor was available in 48-51 as a A1.
I have a aftermarket service manual that indicates Mighty Mite WC-1 built into the early 70s.
