i got a new impeller from doug penn, also the starter springs. well i took apart the water pump area and first thing is the gear housing is filled with water... no oil, no grease. gears look great tho.

the gaskets that were on the pump area kind of fell apart. so is it ok to use silicone gasket maker? the gaskets are really thin, so it may be challenging to make new gaskets.

oil, since the lower seemed empty, 80/90 oil or ?? cant get lubriplate anymore so what is a good alternative. i had thought some good water proof moly grease?
