1946 Evinrude Sportsman 2 HP rebuild

I have this 1946 Evinrude Sportsman model 4409 that I have started to rebuild .It runs well and unlike me, is in good shape for its age. I would like to change the "wrap a rope "start pulley to a recoil type. I have been searching for info on what models used the same recoil [looks like the Zephyr parts may fit] I would ask on the AOMCI forums but it seems they are in the process of updating their site. Maybe the parts from the 1 1 HP Ranger would work. Perhaps other years? Thanks for any input .

EDIT: I just noticed my old bookmark to aomci does not work. Dunno why. But typing in www.aomci.org works for me.

Thanks, I was also using my link I guess I have to update it. Seems that the recoil from the Zephyr is a different size a bit bigger so that is not a option. but perhaps the one from a Ranger

Does your 1946 not use the Simplex starter? My 1947 Sporstman has the Simplex starter, but can also be started with a rope if you remove the Simplex. Perhaps yours is just missing. Go to AOMCI and post a free want-ad.
