If your motor has two plugs, it's really easy. Go to the marine shop or Wally World and buy a bottle of outboard lower end oil. It will have a tapered top under the cap. You'll also need new gaskets for the two plugs...you might just have to go to a Johnson/Evinrude dealer for those, but most marine shops will have them.<br /><br />With both screws removed and then engine upright, insert the taper into the lower hole and squeeze the bottle until oil just starts coming out the upper hole. Replace the upper cap, while still holding the bottle's tip in the lower hole.<br /><br />Remove the bottle and quickly replace the lower screw and gasket. Tighten both firmly.<br /><br />That's it.<br /><br />If you have just one plug, remove it and turn the motor on its side to drain. Then, with it on its other side, fill it to just below the screw threads in the plug hole. Replace the plug and you're done.<br /><br />The fact that your oil was nice and black is a good thing. No water intrusion.<br /><br />Enjoy your motor.
