I have a 1948 Hiawatha 840MI 25-7972A that I acquired from my father. Turns out it originally belonged to my Great Grandfather. I'm hoping I can be the 4th generation in my family to use this outboard. Unfortunately I know nothing about it and it won't start. I checked for spark and don't seem to be getting any. I'm trying to pull the flywheel to get a look at the points, but the flywheel doesn't seem to want to come off, and I don't want to put too much pressure on it with my puller. Is there some trick to getting these off, or are they a straight up flywheel and it might just be rusted or corroded on. i.e. snap rings I don't see, or have to pull the drive shaft off first or some other weird gotcha.
Additionally, one of the plug wires is just hanging off the plug by a few strands. Any idea's on where I might be able to get parts for this? Other than the plug wire, I'm sure there's other things I might need. points, stater, etc....
