Hello to all! I acquired this old outboard..and the serial number indicates that it is a 1950 Elgin. The only trouble I am having is getting this put back together correctly before even attempting to start it. When I went to go look at it..the owner failed to mention that he backed into it with his car (he had it hooked to his work bench) and the swivel housing is bent..no damage elsewhere. My question is..after searching the internet...I can only find swivel housings for 1951-1952 5hp. Elgins..not the 7.5 that I have pictured here. He also stated that his dad said it is missing points (something else he failed to mention before picking it up) My question is..will the 1951-1952 swivel housing fit this 7.5 motor? Also..How to I remove the lower unit to remove this bent swivel housing? Finally..and I apologize for all these questions...what points does this engine take? Thank you! Please see pictures for any reference..the guy wanted $150.00 but I got it for 40.00 because of all the issues it has.
