Hi,I am repainting a 1957 BT 35 HP.I have chose to use a Duplicolor Ford 257 Medium Blue.It is in my estimation a close match to the Poly-Chromatic Blue, but at $5.00 a can rather than 13.99 + S&H a can.My question is is it ok to use this paint on the power head itself? Will it hold up to the heat? Was the original paint a high heat paint or was it not nessessary? Has anyone used this type of paint ,Duplicolor Acrylic Laquer? Thanks Jim

Re: 1950's Evinrude Paint

The site that Bubbakat replied with has some excellent technical details on the properties of rattle can paint versus the paint sold there. I know it sounds expensive, but it sounds like it might be worth it. I just sent my order in for paint and primer for my 1954 Johnson Seahorse 25hp. I can't wait to receive it and get my boat in the water.

Here's that tech link on that website:

http://www.axxent.ca/~nymarine/pntinfo.html
