Hi guys, So I acquired a TN 27 last winter...never got around to it until now. Long story short, I completely rebuilt the ignition system, got strong sparks on both cylinders and engine fired up for a few seconds before dying out. Now I want to rebuild the carburetor. I did visit the link at http://www.pochefamily.org/outboard/ but I need better instruction. I am now at the point where I'm trying to remove the Brass cylinder so I can then remove both the upper and lower brass washers and the leather seals sandwiched in between them. I cannot manage to remove the brass cylinder. How do I go about doing this? Also, has anyone tried using rubber seals (instead of the leather seals that Lloyd Lautner sells). Any help/suggestions/input would be very much appreciated! This was my grandpa's motor and I am eager to get her up and running after sitting in storage for 50+ years. Many thanks Aj

You need to take the whole top of the carb off to get that out. I have used fuel injection o-rings and had good results. You should also replace the float use the mercury float from the early carbs is a synthetic material and works well. You still need to use the upper and lower brass washers with the o-rings.
