1952 Big Twin, 25hp...Flywheel question

i am trying to help my buddy out. He has a 1952 Big Twin, 25hp that is complete and in very nice shape, but it lacks the electric start. He does have a junk/parts motor that i am pretty sure it's the same year (or very close), that does have the starter bracket, starter motor & wiring. However it's missing everything up top...the flywheel, recoil, etc.

I can't find a parts list for his motor and i'm looking for the OEM number as i have another friend that said he has 20-25 old flywheels from motors he scrapped and will let me go shopping. I am hoping to find one that will fit.

I am assuming (we all know how that can turn out!) that all he needs to do is replace the current flywheel with one that has teeth for the starter motor. Am I wrong in that?

Appreciate any help,

DW

Evinrude didn't even offer electric start till 1954. So, if you are trying to put it on a 1952, you may be entering uncharted territory.

You do know the electric start (1954) has a different hood than the manual start...don't you?

It's all uncharted territory for me, especially since it's not my motor. I wasn't aware that E-start wasn't available on the '52. If that's the case, i'm not going to mess with it and i will advise my friend as such.

Thanks,
