This is the impeller you need, part number 276983

The '55 uses a 277181, superseded to 434424 here. The '55 impeller is much cheaper!

I believe that should work, as it does with the TN using a newer 5.5hp bored out. I have not done it on a 7.5hp myself though. I have a few 52 Fleetwins around, if I have time Ill have a peek at the dimensions of the impeller.

Re: 1952 evinrude impeller

I have used the '55 style impeller in a couple neutral clutch Fleetwins. Requires you to thin the profile of the impeller on a belt sander, flipping it frequently to keep the removed material equal on both sides. I don't have the dimensions handy, so use your old impeller as a guide. I believe I had to bore the center out a hair, too, but it's entirely possible I'm mixing that up with another modification procedure. You'll know soon enough if the later impeller doesn't fit the earlier shaft...

Brian Wilcox can make you a new impeller. You have to send him the old one because he recycles the brass hub.

Call him at 810-794-7685 before 8 pm est please. Or email Baron0418@att.net. please note the B must be a capital.

Hey 17ft'r, your model # 6202 is for a 1972 Evinrude 6. Your motor and earlier motors back to 1966 share the same leg; in fact the midsection / lower unit look the same all the way back to 1956. There was a change for 1966 when they eliminated the shock absorber below the impeller and replaced it with a splined propeller hub to accomplish the same thing. Not wanting to allow an earlier non-splined prop to work on a later non-shock equipped 6, OMC purposely changed the prop shaft so you couldn't do it.

As to the original poster (this is a 3-year-old thread BTW) I don't know that Brian Wilcox is still doing impellers, though you or anyone could try to contact him.
