I just put new coils cond.& points in this.cleaned carb. changed impeller.& lower unit lube. i got this motor last winter and just started working on it.it has set for 15 years. i just read that on these old 3hp lightwins the fuel/oil mixtyre is 24:1 becase of the type of bearings it has internally.and not 50:1 as later motors.i read this in something called Tom's tune up projects.and would like some input on it. thanks for any help you can gave. 24:1 for all Johnnyrudes before 1965. 50:1 for later models. If you're dealing with a Johnson or Evinrude made before about 1940, even a richer mixture may be needed. On some of the real antiques it goes as far as 8:1.

What CAT said, except the change date was 1964, not 1965. Not that it makes any difference on your little jewel, one of the best outboards ever made, by anyone.

We have Ignition! thanks you guys.i was not sure about the fuel/oil mixture.and did not want to mess it up.it runs ok.i'll have to run it for a while to see how it works out.as you can see it runs.
