I just put new coils cond.& points in this.cleaned carb. changed impeller.& lower unit lube. i got this motor last winter and just started working on it.it has set for 15 years. i just read that on these old 3hp lightwins the fuel/oil mixtyre is 24:1 becase of the type of bearings it has internally.and not 50:1 as later motors.i read this in something called Tom's tune up projects.and would like some input on it. thanks for any help you can gave. Roger.

24:1 for all Johnnyrudes before 1965. 50:1 for later models. If you're dealing with a Johnson or Evinrude made before about 1940, even a richer mixture may be needed. On some of the real antiques it goes as far as 8:1.

What CAT said, except the change date was 1964, not 1965. Not that it makes any difference on your little jewel, one of the best outboards ever made, by anyone. :)

Hey! That churns up the water real good! Time to put it on the water and see how it pushes your boat.
