I have a 1953 Evinrude Big Twin that I am able to get spark, get it to pop, and has good compression. I can get it to pop when I spray fuel directly into the cylinders. The problem appears to be that I am not getting any fuel from the carb into the cylinders. I had to replace the original carb with a 35 HP one since the original was badly damaged. I have fuel in the float and filter area. Am I not getting enough vacuum from the engine to suck fuel into the cylinders since I am using a 35 HP carb? The carb has been completely overhauled so I know everything is in good shape....Thanks for any advice.

The vacturi is different. Don't think it will work sorry. A wanted ad at aomci.org in the webvertize should get you what you need.

Before you do/buy anything take a look at the coils. Unless they have already been replaced, they need to be. ALL 1953 original OMC coils are bad by now. And they have fooled many people into thinking they have carburetor problems. So you won't be the first if this is the case.

F_R - I replaced the condensers, coils, plugs, wires, points etc. The motor was in pretty bad shape when I got it so everything had to be replaced.
