1954 Evinrude 25 fires once, will not start

I've gotten my old motor to fire but can't get it to run, First off I don't have a pressure tank so I have a single hose fuel line going directly to the carb, w/ the tank placed higher than the motor to allow gravity feed. spark plugs are brand new and sparking. I allow gas into the carb and pull but no start. I let it sit for about a min. pull and it'll fire once but only once. I plan on doing the fuel pump conversion but would like to hear it running first.

You are so totally wasting your time till you pull the flywheel and see if the coils are any good. The fact that they are sparking doesn't mean a thing.

Of course, you should have already checked the compression to see if the motor is any good.
