Ahoy,

I hope you don't mind me asking for some advice, as this forum was a wealth of knowledge w/ my 35hp. For the past year I've been looking for a replacement forward gear for a CD-11 and recently I have found a parts CD-14 w/ the lower unit intact. Can I swap out the contents out of the two lower units or do I have to swap the entire lower leg?

Thanks Clay

You can swap the insides (gears, clutch dog and prop shaft), but you will also have to swap props. Or just swap the entire lower unit as an assembly. You will still need the CD-14 prop.

Thanks Wayne,

I am going to take a closer look at the CD-14 and inspect the bottom end gear set before purchase. If all is good I will do the swap like you suggested! When you say the clutch dog is different, just the lower portion right, not the upper arm as well!

Thanks Clay

PS I got her running last night for the first time in 20 years (as she has been sitting due to the missing forward gear). She won't hold an idle but I would think it's the carb, that's next! I've attached a pic from last summer when i first picked her up.
