I just recently purchased a 1955 7.5 HP Fleetwin a couple of weeks ago, not knowing I had to have a pressurized gas tank. Finally after looking all over I found one and right before I left I found two more. Needless to say I purchased all three of them. I had taken all three apart and fixed what I could and order a complete repair kit for the one I have keep. I finally got it hooked up to the motor and I did'nt even have to prime the tank. I make a few pulls on the motor and noticed gas leaking under the high speed knob. I played with it for awhile, unhooking the new double gas line and when I did this the gas came back out the connector. I pulled it a couple of times with the gas ligne unlooked and it fired right up. I tried it again and broke the spring for the rope. I ordered one Sunday and will try it again. Does anyone have any idea why the gas was coming out. I'm thinking the position of the handle is not correct, where it say start, stop etc. I don't know since I am knew to these old motors.
I posted this on another forum and was told to start my on topic. I'm sorry If I caused any problems.

Thanks

Your fuel line connector may need new "O" rings, too, Richard. You said fuel came out of the connector, which it should not.

Thank you for the responses. I have never rebuilt a carb before on anything, but I am some what mechanically inclined. May just try it.
I was talking about the fuel running back out of the connector that is mounting on the motor, your fuel line connects to it. When I would disconnect the fuel line in would run back out on the motor housing.
I hope this will paint a better picture.
